1. 'The Role of the Private Sector in Development - A Value Chain Perspective, Farouk Jiwa presents
Tuesday, March 3, 11:30-1:00pm - N109, Schulich School of Business - FREE
In another installment of the Sustainability Speaker Series, Farouk Jiwa, Senior Regional Technical Adviser of the Economic Development Unit for CARE USA, will discuss CARE's experience in community economic development in selected projects from across Africa, Asia and Latin America. The lecture will highlight some of the key successes achieved through building strategic partnerships with the private sector as well as some of the challenges faced by the organization. This makes a case for the value chain approach being adopted by an increasing number of international development organizations, which seek a real win-win-win synergy between poor rural communities, NGOs and the private sector.
