The Map Reflections Sustainability Monitoring and Reporting project is a partnership between York University and Citizen's Environment Watch, a non-profit environmental organization.
Map Reflections is a web-based data collection, assessment and reporting system focused on biological indicators of urban sustainability in Southern Ontario. This partnership between Citizens’ Environment Watch and York is producing an accessible, educational tool for students and citizens to use in housing, analyzing and sharing their environmental monitoring data.
This project has been successful in fostering local stewardship, informed decision-making, experiential learning, and the exploration of geography through the use of web-based mapping technologies.
The project has received finding from the TD Bank Financial Group's Friends of the Environment Foundation Community Fund and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority has also come on board as a partner in the project.
