Biography
Pamela has over 25 years of progressive experience in strategic planning, policy development, project management, research and writing. Pamela is the National Executive Director of Learning for a Sustainable Future, a Canadian non-profit organization founded in 1991 to integrate the concepts and principles of sustainable development into education policy and curricula, professional development, community action and lifelong learning across Canada. Pamela’s leadership in Education for Sustainable Development was recognized by the Ontario Minister of Education through her appointment to the Working Group on Environmental Education, Chaired by Roberta Bondar. Pamela is on the faculty of the Sustainable Education Academy at Schulich School of Business. She is a member of ESD Canada and the Education Alliance for a Sustainable Ontario.

Her prior positions include: Coordinator of the Ontario Premier’s Council; Manager of Policy and Programs for the Ontario Round Table on Environment and Economy; Education Program Officer for the Ontario Ministry of Energy; and Energy Manager, Planning and Development Department for the City Of Brampton. Pamela has a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University.

Research Interests
Pamela’s applied research interests focus on environmental and sustainability education, and youth engagement. Recent research activities include the research and writing of Connecting the Dots – Strategies for implementing ESD in the classroom, survey of ESD activities across Canada, and a survey of multicredit course offerings in Ontario schools. Projects that are affiliated with IRIS include “Creating Sustainable Communities: Youth Taking Action Forums” that are being delivered by LSF in partnership with IRIS across the country, and Working in a Warming World.
