Andrew is a PhD candidate in the History Department at York University, studying Environmental History. He received his BA and MA from Queen's University. Andrew is extremely interested in the broad connections between contemporary issues surrounding sustainability and their application to historical inquiry. His dissertation will focus on an environmental history of the Muskoka Lakes between 1850 and 1920, and will utilize ecological footprint and societal metabolisms concepts to better understand changes to the relationship between culture and the Muskoka Lakes environment. Andrew is thrilled to represent the history department on the IRIS executive, and hopes to contribute an alternative perspective on many projects within the organization, as well as learn from the interdiscplinary learning environment that is the Institute for Research and Innovation in Sustainability.
