Development of Capability Building Initiatives for and Energy Efficient Ontario Project

Archived Content

SeeLine Group is involved in numerous studies relevant to current Conservation and Demand-Side Management issues in Ontario. IRIS has partnered with SeeLine on the Development of Capability Building Initiatives for and Energy Efficient Ontario Project. The ultimate goal of this project will be to provide capability-building program elements necessary for the OPA to reach the provincial conservation target of a 6,300-megawatt reduction in peak electricity demand by 2025.  Capability building refers to “education, training, or sector-support initiatives that develop consumer or service provider ability to undertake conservation activity.”

The OPA's approach to create conservation initiatives focused on the long-term needs of the sector and is aimed to be achieved by working within existing market structures to influence organizations to incorporate electricity conservation into their practices and business offerings, and embed conservation into mainstream activities. The proposed approach relies on the participation and co-operation of supply chain players and influencers to take part in conservation, or promote higher levels of energy efficiency among their consumers.
